THE WEDDING

St. Gabriel, Forest Park, and a Full Dance Floor

Jill and Dylan started their wedding with a full Catholic Mass at St. Gabriel before heading to Forest Park for portraits near The Muny. From there, everyone made their way to Gatsby Events for dinner, speeches, and a packed dance floor.

Forest Park gave them plenty of variety without adding several portrait stops to the afternoon. The area around The Muny offered clean architecture, open paths, summer flowers, shaded pockets, and enough room for the entire wedding party.

Their gallery moves from quiet family moments to larger ceremony scenes, then into portraits with more movement before ending right in the middle of the reception.

BEFORE THE CEREMONY

A Few Minutes With Mom

Before guests filled the church, Jill had a few quiet minutes with her mom. Nothing complicated was needed here. The moment already had everything the photograph needed.

ST. GABRIEL CATHOLIC CHURCH

A Full Catholic Mass at St. Gabriel

Jill walked down the aisle with her dad before she and Dylan celebrated a full Catholic Mass surrounded by their families and friends.

The ceremony photographs include both the bigger scene and the smaller reactions happening around them. Their walk back down the aisle brought everyone into the frame again before the group headed out for portraits.

Forest Park Wedding Photos Around The Muny

After the ceremony, Jill and Dylan headed to Forest Park with their wedding party. Staying near The Muny gave everyone plenty to work with without turning portraits into an afternoon of driving.

The open paths and gardens gave Jill and Dylan room to move, while the surrounding architecture added a cleaner backdrop for their individual portraits. A few frames under the veil brought everything in closer.

Forest Park wedding photos can have a lot of range within a fairly small area, which is especially helpful when you want variety without giving up a huge part of the day to travel.

PLANNING FOREST PARK PORTRAITS

One Strong Area Can Be Enough

If Forest Park is part of your timeline, you probably do not need several stops inside the park. Choosing one or two areas with enough variety gives you more time to walk around, settle in, and actually enjoy the portrait portion of the afternoon.

For their Forest Park wedding photos, the area around The Muny gave Jill and Dylan architecture, gardens, open space, and nearby shade without adding another stop.

THE WEDDING PARTY

More Than the Standard Group Photo

Jill had six bridesmaids and Dylan had six groomsmen, so there was plenty of personality once everyone was together. They still got the photographs families expect, but there was also room for movement, tighter groupings, and something less formal.

COCKTAIL HOUR

Drinks, Catching Up, and Everyone in One Place

By cocktail hour, portraits were finished and everyone could settle into the evening. Friends moved between conversations, family gathered around the bar, and the room started filling before dinner.

These in-between parts of a wedding usually end up holding a lot of the people you care about in one frame, without anyone stopping what they are doing for the camera.

THE RECEPTION

Dinner, Speeches, First Dances, Then the Party

Jill and Dylan came into the reception with everyone cheering around them. Dinner led into speeches, followed by their first dances before guests made their way onto the floor.

Once the dance floor opened, things got louder and a lot less predictable. Direct flash, movement, guests crossing through the frame, and a little chaos were all part of it.

PLANNING YOUR OWN FOREST PARK PORTRAITS

Give Yourself Enough Time

Planning Forest Park wedding photos does not mean you need to cover the entire park. If you choose an area that works well with the rest of your timeline, you can get plenty of variety without spending most of the afternoon moving between locations.

Leaving a little extra room also means you are not watching the clock through every portrait. You can walk around, stay somewhere longer when there is beautiful light, and head to the reception without feeling like you just finished a race across St. Louis.
